The Social Services Department at Tri-County Association
for the Blind offers a variety of services to individuals in Central Pennsylvania who are
blind or visually impaired to enable them to maintain their independence. Services are
provided to individuals who reside in Cumberland, Dauphin, and Perry Counties and include:
- Information and referral services that connect individuals to helpful resources in the community
- Transportation and escort services to and from medical appointments, other necessary appointments, grocery stores, agency support group meetings, quality of life programs, and for errands
- Support services, including but not limited to, assistance with grocery shopping, mail reading, bill paying, and completing forms and applications
- Life skills education through attendance at support group meetings and quality of life programs
- Social recreational activities

Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are critical to the functioning of the Social Services Department and assist us in
providing direct services to many of our customers. The Social Services Department frequently uses
volunteers to assist customers with transportation, grocery shopping, mail reading, bill paying, and
errands.

Support Group Meetings and Calendar of Events

The Tri-County Association for the Blind support group meetings provide a wonderful
opportunity for individuals who are blind or visually impaired to meet other people who are
blind or visually impaired. They are held in Harrisburg, New Bloomfield, Shippensburg and
Carlisle, where support group members are encouraged to share stories, provide support, and
share solutions for problems related to vision loss. These meetings also enable individuals
to learn about valuable community programs, resources, and information. Family members and
friends are not only welcome, but they are encouraged to attend. Transportation may be
available for individuals who are blind or visually impaired. For event dates and directions
