Radio Reading Service

South Central Audio Network ( SCAN) is a radio reading service for individuals who are blind, visually impaired or otherwise print impaired. Listeners receive news information, broadcasts of special events and other programming through the SCAN radio station. Print impaired individuals are issued special free radios that can dial into the necessary frequency for listening.

SCAN is a partnership with the Tri-County Association for the Blind (TCAB) and Susquehanna Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (SABVI). Both blind associations merged their separate stations into one station that will now encompass a five county listening area that includes; Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon and Perry counties.

The new and improved SCAN radio reading station provides an integral service for the print impaired community by broadcasting the reading of national and local newspapers that includes: The New York Times, Wall Street Journal as well as the Patriot News, and the Paxton Herald. The station functions as a sub-carrier of WITF-89.5 FM and provides programming 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
