Tri-County Association for the Blind (TCAB)’s Access
Technology program utilizes state of the art computers to teach people who are blind and
visually impaired in Central Pennsylvania how to use a computer for various functions. Our
onsite computer specialist provides training for applications such as word processing,
database management and the Internet. Other programs include training for stand-alone
personal digital assistants or Note Takers.
For many of our clients, this is their first opportunity to experience hands-on use of
computers. This service allows blind and visually impaired clients to be introduced to
technology that helps them remain independent in their daily lives.
TCAB also hosts a blind computer users' support group. This allows clients to network with
others, exchange problem-solving techniques and discuss new products. Many demonstrations of
new products, speakers and field trips are offered through this group. The meetings are open
to everyone, regardless of visual impairment or level of computer knowledge.
For more information about our Access Technology program, please contact Londa Peterson at lpeterson@tricountyblind.org, or (717) 238-2531.
TCAB also provides a service for businesses that are looking to become more user-friendly for blind and visually impaired individuals. This includes Braille transcription or translation and website analysis.
