TCAB Eyewear Shoppe opens at the Tri-County Association for the Blind

Harrisburg, PA -- Tri-County Association for the Blind opened a new eyeglasses shop that will custom fit eyewear for people who need to wear glasses. The TCAB Eyewear Shoppe will fill a need to provide affordable eyewear for people who need glasses and just can not afford to purchase them in a regular retail eyeglasses store. Executive Director, Danette Blank recognized that there was a need in the community for affordable eyeglasses. "We decided to open our own shop because we often get requests from clients as well as people in the community where to purchase inexpensive eyewear. We did research and discovered that many blind associations across the state operate eyeglasses shops. The TCAB Eyewear Shoppe will fill a need in this community.

Customers will need to visit their own eye doctor for an eye exam. Once they obtain a prescription for eyeglasses, they can contact us to set up an appointment for a fitting. They will then bring their prescription to the TCAB Eyewear Shoppe, where trained eyeglasses specialists will provide one on one service to help each customer find their best fit and style. Once the frame style is determined, the staff will handle all the necessary paperwork, but can not file insurance forms. The customer's finished glasses are then mailed directly to their home. The shop will stock over 100 frame styles available for both children and adults, and most of the glasses will sell for less than $100.

The TCAB Eyewear Shoppe will be open on Wednesdays by appointment only.
