The Tri-County Association for the Blind:

• Is a private non-profit organization that has worked since 1921 to improve the quality of life for people who are blind and visually impaired by helping them achieve their full potential and maximum independence.
• Provides social service programs for people who are blind and visually impaired. These include chore assistance, life skills education, transportation and escort services, counseling, case management and recreational programs.
• Conducts important programs directed toward the prevention of blindness including public education through an active speakers' bureau, vision screening for children and adults, and industrial eye safety programs.
• Offers a production facility and carpeting department which provides employment to individuals who are visually, mentally or physically disabled.
• Is home to the Harrisburg Area Radio Reading Service which provides news, information, and special events by means of a fixed-tuned radio to people who are print-impaired.
• Offers an Access Technology program which provides high-quality training in the use of computers and access technology. This program introduces the blind and visually impaired to word processing, spreadsheets, database management, and the Internet.
• Served more than 15,000 people last year through its Prevention of Blindness Services, Access Technology, Social Services, Production Facility, Carpeting Department and the Harrisburg Area Radio Reading Service.
• Provides valuable services to residents of Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry Counties.
